Both of us were lucky enough to grow up right here in the beautiful city that is Kingston, Ontario. In 2013 a unique opportunity called us to Ottawa, where Matthew would participate in one of the largest heritage restoration projects in North America- the repair and rebuild of the Canadian Parliamentary buildings. Living in Ottawa took our passion for food and drink to the next level, and Logan had the privilege of working for the brother owned and operated restaurant Fraser Café, where her knowledge and experience in hospitality grew immensely. After two years in Ottawa (and tying the knot!), we began to search for the perfect property for our dream of running a café. The natural choice was to come back to our home town, and in particular the inner harbour. Upon moving day, we were already surrounded by incredible friends and neighbours. Thanks to the never ending help and support from our family and friends, we were able to turn our dream into reality.
Matthew is a stone mason by trade, with a wide range of experience in the restoration of heritage buildings, chimneys and fireplaces. His passion for building, unique experience, and strong sense of community shines through in his bubbly personality. When he’s not whipping up cappuccinos in the café or repairing heritage buildings on the west coast, you might find him at a city council meeting or walking our chocolate lab Floyd.
Logan has worked in hospitality for over 10 years, dedicating her efforts to providing unforgettable experiences for her guests and serving food and drink she can be proud of. After graduating from St. Lawrence College in Behavioural Psychology in 2013, she realized that her “obsession” for good food and drink had naturally evolved into something more, an incredibly rewarding (and delicious) career. An increased awareness has led Logan to pursue a commitment to sourcing food and beverage responsibly, serving local food wherever possible.
